Pep's comments about players making mistakes and "the past is the past" really disturbed me. Busquets, I now hate, but Pep? He broke my heart by skirting the issue/by seeming flippant about this. I wanted him to address the actual incident. By not addressing it, it's basically nonexistent. And by sweeping it under the banner of "mistake" trivializes not only the incident but similar incidents players like Eto'o, Thierry Henry, Dani (who as recently as Feb. 2011 said that he gets called "mono" and that he's used to racism in Spain). It's disrespectful and sketchy. I don't hate him (yet), but until there's decisive and substantial action, I am side-eyeing Pep and I've definitely lost respect for him. This is so, so awful.
Busquets needs to apologize to Marcelo, to Real Madrid, and to Barça. Pep needs to make a statement of condemnation about this. IDGAF that Busquets has been valuable/continues to be a valuable player -- I cannot stomach what he's done. How I'll feel about the club's reaction (or worse -- and unfortunately, realistically -- non-reaction) remains to be seen by the end of this parade of bullshit. I need the club to make an example of Busquets. I need the club to make the most effort to address this in a satisfactory manner. I know I'm being unrealistic, but still. Despite my anger/frustration/disappointment, I still have a lot of love and trust in the club, and I want FC Barcelona to come through.
I'm so done with this deluge of Clasicos. After tomorrow's match, I'm going to take a breather and enjoy other things for a while. I didn't know I was capable of so much bile, but what has totally floored me is the amount of disappointment I feel.
