Next up: a long-overdue personal update and some recs! I'm very very slowly working my way through the Yuletide fic I downloaded before reveals, but I promised khoshgeleh_16 I'd rec her my favorites of the hockey exchange, and I've already picked my way through that. 

school and work have been eating up all my time lately and that is why I haven't been posting! though it never seems like it's been all that long to me, and then I realize I haven't updated in over a month. so yeah. still ticking along, just quiet on the livejournal front!

YULETIDE. it's almost time for the best season of the year to start! what is everybody nominating? I have predictably started trying to organize the sports people, because that is what I do. I'm going for Olympics RPF, She's The Man and am wavering between Bend It Like Beckham (HOW AM I THE ONLY PERSON THINKING OF NOMINATING THIS? SERIOUSLY???) and Tennis RPF because I really want that Chrissie/Martina fic. but if nobody nominates Bend It Like Beckham I may have to abandon classic tennis for this year. :(

soooo... footballkink. lovely place, right up until you de-anon to post a picture and get the mother of all wankfests dumped on your head over the "spirit of the anon meme". but on the other hand, it is not like I want to prompt anything that's likely to get filled over there, so. having been oh-so-politely invited to get the fuck out of their sandbox with my rudely exhibitionist ways, I guess I can freely oblige? (my non-anon prompt was a thing of fucking beauty. it had links and visual aids and everything. html coding went into that thing! hmph.)

but! I kind of like just making prompts, even without the possibility of their ever getting filled. does anybody else get that? it's probably related to the fact that I love movie trailers. seriously if somebody makes me too late to a movie to watch the previews I will be pissed enough to shank a bitch.

so I've made this post, and I'm kind of too busy finishing my essays right now to do much with it, but it's going to be where I put the prompts that I would like to write or read, and if you would like to post a prompt too, feel free! I'm probably not going to write any of them, but I guess you never know. (this is a lie. I probably will end up writing Alcantara brothers fic. I can feel these things, and they never end well.) and it definitely doesn't have to be football or whatever. any fandom you like, kinky or really kinky or not at all, nobody's judging. I mean, preferably pick a fandom I'm familiar with so I can appreciate what a brilliant prompt it is, but hey. for instance:

Rafa/Nole fic in which they are footballers! Rafa is the home-grown captain of his team, Nole is the new star transfer. Rafa has to either help him settle in or show him who's boss. or both! possibly up against a locker.

David Silva/Mario Balotelli fic in which Silva accidentally reveals the fact that he's totally a scheming mastermind with huge ambitions underneath the sweet facade to Mario and then ends up with Mario following him around like an oversized puppy because he's so desperately in love with Silva's bitchiness. awkwardly bilingual banter (did you know Silva speaks some Italian? you do now) and topping from the bottom very welcome!

has anybody else seen Paris Je T'Aime? well, anyway, awkward curly-haired boy and girl in the headscarf. give me cross-cultural awkwardness. and kissing. and possibly her having to tell him what to do in bed.

I've really got to finish this paper, but I'll add more in the comments in the post itself, apparently, when I can! run wild, my children!

so Athletic Bilbao-Valencia featured some nasty collisions, Valencia's David Navarro is pretty conclusively lying, cheating scum, and both Fernando Llorente and Javi Martinez ended up bleeding before the end of the match. which they lost. hurt/comfort please? (match report with sassy quotes from Fernando here)

Swingers Club de Barcelona! Shakira and Puyol fondly observing their snatched-from-the-cradle significant others on a playdate (concert, party, idk, product launch? mostly interested in Puyi and Shaki hanging out being "old people" together while Malena and Pique enjoy being young and energetic). can be sexual or not, your choice. preferably not in a creepy way, though. (any and all permutations of the four of them are okay by me! doesn't have to be just two.)

David Villa and Pepe Reina are the bestest of bros. would love to see them uniting to show somebody a really awesome time in bed. (mardia already did this one with Fernando Torres, but I'm greedy! David Silva? Iniesta? I'm open to suggestions if you can convince me but no Llorente please. in my brain he is their child.) or, um. if somebody really wanted to make me happy... Goldilocks and the Three Bears, with more porn. Pepe is Papa Bear, Villa is Mama Bear, Llorente is the baby. Torres is Goldilocks, naturally.

Victor Valdes and Pepe Reina grew up together at Barcelona, where they were in direct competition with each other - they're the same age and obviously both goalkeepers - and yet apparently managed to stay friends. (eventually Victor won out, and he was promoted to the first team while Pepe was released to join another club, though that's only relevant if you want it to be.) I would be very interested in fic about them together, as teenagers or in the present or anywhere in between! Pepe is very friendly and outgoing, while Victor has trouble trusting people, but is incredibly loyal to the few friends he has. I think the differences between them could make for a very cool story. (if Andres Iniesta - who is very sweet-natured and universally adored, but also Victor's best friend, and I wouldn't be surprised, given how few friends Victor has, if he was very possessive about that - can feature somehow, I will love you forever!)

so this meme happened ages ago and I'm not including any of the links or whatever; I'm just doing the navel-gazing part, because I feel like it, idek. ganked from mardia's journal:

1) I talked a little bit about this when I was doing the footie recs list, but "oblivious jerk falls in love, flails helplessly over own inability to treat beloved right" is absolutely my favorite narrative device. it would piss me off in real life, but there's just something about someone who is, in general, an irredeemable asshole, being redeemed by their (often inconvenient) desire to make one specific person happy (e.g. Gianluigi in The Marriage of Heaven and Hell). there's a closely related trope that I also really like, which is a powerful and often amoral person falling in love with someone who does have a lot of ethics. Lex in Moving On, Arthur in Favorite, Miranda in The Lily and the Crown: all forced into ruling the universe responsibly because of their better half's annoying conscience. I think it's something about someone with no other weaknesses being so vulnerable to one person. I love this trope so much.

2) familial devotion. if you've read sarahtales's The Demon's Lexicon and The Demon's Covenant, you know what I'm talking about. Mae and Jamie, hearts in my eyes. and Annabelle's unexpected badassery to protect her children. and, uh, Nick and Alan in general. (Nick is a double whammy because he also falls under beloved trope #1! when he keeps offering to kill people for Jamie, it makes me flail around in joy. he's a total jackass but when he loves you, all he wants is to keep you safe and happy. he's just not very good at the "happy" part.)

3) boys being inarticulate idiots with the emotional intelligence of a brick. I feel like I see this trope a lot in sports fandom because of the stereotype of the dumb jock; the example that comes to mind is Evan in that tragically abandoned WIP about him having a nervous breakdown, who just can't understand Johnny at all. the scene where he calls Tanith and she has to walk him through his own feelings is just amazing.

4) limited third person narrative! oh man, I have such a literary boner for writing that can make me understand exactly what a character is seeing and feeling and thinking without going out of third person. the best part is when you can see how they're misinterpreting events, even though you can only see the facts as they appear to the character. the example of this that I will take with me forever is sarahtales's Drop Dead Gorgeous (I have this as a .pdf, so if you need it, leave a comment), in which you can at any given point in time understand (a) that Harry and Draco are hopelessly in love with each other AND (b) why neither of them knows this. I will forever be in awe of the fact that she wrote the entire fic in Harry's limited perspective, and then she wrote a prequel entirely in Draco's. flawlessly. I will never not be jealous of this woman.

5) lunatic AUs. I feel that my track record in this area speaks for itself.

this part is pretty much irrelevant, but my main fandoms right now are football (soccer) rps, tennis rpf, and temeraire
