Also, this is why I forgive my history outside reading for being almost 600 pages long: "There were not a few in the Bundesrepublik who said that they liked the DDR because certain specific German qualities had been better preserved there than in the West. Such views, alas, were not shared, as it was soon to appear, by a majority of East Germans, who voted with their feet the moment the wall came down."
And that's DDR as in Deutsch Democratik Republik (or however you spell is), not Dance Dance Revolution. I had a few laughs over that, too.
