regarding shoujo manga

free_manga (which, incidentally, has since destroyed my life) I am realizing that my love of manga is not ~le gasp~ restricted to the gay. I actually like some shoujo! the horror. actually, I've always been fond of CLAMP, though that sort of skirts the boundary between shoujo and shonen ai, and after reading W Juliet under the auspices of the Bebop Crew... well, Emura rocks my socks right off. on the one hand, I'm glad that the series is over, because I'm actually buying it, and it could have turned into one of those horrendous money sinks like Prince of Tennis (which I no longer buy, or, for that matter, read. one of these days I'll get back into it, and figure out what the hell this Shitenhouji nonsense is that everyone on my flist is babbling about), but... it makes me so sad that there will be no more of Ito's crazy brothers!
however. there is a sequel. it isn't translated, but I'm sure someone will pick it up soon, and then... MORE CRAZED SHENANIGANS. honestly I think I like W Juliet as much for the insane fight scenes as anything else. especially as Ito sort of outgrew her tomboyishness, which was half the fun for me (the other half being the fact that Makoto was supposed to be a manly man, and yet he was such a pretty girl). I miss the short hair! Ito with long hair just looks wrong.
the series that has taken over my free time today is Perfect Girl Evolution, published in English as The Wallflower. I read part of it in a bookstore last year, and it is HILARIOUS. the heroine, Sunako, is obsessed with horror films and hates sunshine, dressing like a normal person, and pretty people, whom she calls "radiant beings." unfortunately for her, her aunt is determined to turn her into a lady, and to this end brings in four gorgeous boys to help out, with the bribe of free rent in her and Sunako's huge house if they can manage this herculean feat. Sunako is having none of it, though. I LOVE HER SO MUCH. (she's kind of like me, except with slasher films instead of slash. ~is killed dead for bad punning~) I can't decide whether I want her to hook up with the prerequisite Gorgeous Grump, or to live happily ever after in total darkness with her anatomical models and Freddy vs. Jason flicks.
I also downloaded the entirety of Hana Kimi (god help me) and about a third of Hana Yori Dango. I have a strong suspicion as to where my spring break is going.
