Just to round off an evening of me fangirling all over you (I think I'm sorry. I'm not sure. Too tired to tell)...

AJ/Silva? (if you ship them. I don't actually know...)

Predictable, moi?

[identity profile] meretricula.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I am an equal-opportunity Silva shipper! everyone except Joleon gets a turn! (sorry, Joleon. XD)

who is the big spoon/little spoon
Silva is the little spoon. He used to get really cranky about it because oh yes, haha, he is very little, this is fucking hilarious, Johnson, GO SLEEP ON THE COUCH, so Adam would wait until he was asleep and then cuddle up behind him. And then Silva kind of started to like it. But shhh, don't tell anyone.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity
Football, of course!

who uses all the hot water in the morning
Adam. He's used to living alone and it makes him kind of inconsiderate about things like that.

what they order from take out
Whatever is allowed on their diet regimens, mostly Italian and Japanese. Adam used to try and get Spanish food for Silva, but Silva's opinion of the Spanish food in Manchester is not high, and he always points out they could just go to his house and eat his mother's cooking instead. Adam thinks Silva's family is nice and all, but they're kind of intimidating and if they go to Silva's house the chance he can talk Silva into sexytimes drops to zero.

what is the most trivial thing they fight over
Meal times. Adam wants to eat dinner before ten o'clock, okay? That is just not on. And the fact that David is always, always, always late.

who does most of the cleaning
Silva's mom. Adam's place, devoid of this feminine touch, looks like a hurricane just hit.

what has a season pass in their DVR
La Liga, which Adam secretly isn't too thrilled about. It makes him worry that maybe Silva misses it.

who controls the netflix queue
Silva. Adam could never remember to make sure everything came with Spanish subtitles, and Silva finally got fed up with him. So now they watch really random films, because Silva can't always understand the summaries when he orders them.

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working
Adam. Silva's English makes communicating with the locals an exercise in mime.

who steals the blankets
Silva. He's from the Canary Islands. England is FUCKING COLD. He needs those blankets, Adam Johnson, go get some more if you want them so bad.

who leaves their stuff around
Adam. He's really terrible about it, Silva yells at him all the time.

who remembers to buy the milk
Adam. Silva doesn't really drink it.

who remembers anniversaries
Both of them, but Adam is always the first one to mention it. Silva doesn't want to admit he remembers, just in case Adam has forgotten. He doesn't like the possibility that he cares more than Adam does; then he would be losing. (Adam tries and fails to point out that a relationship is not a competition. To Silva, everything is a competition.)

AAAAAAAAH.

I could just copypasta it all back at you with various permutations of 'yesssss' and 'thisssss' and '+1' interspersed throughout, it is just too perfect and true for anything more coherent.

But the last bit especially. Both hilarious and sort of sad. You know there's something wrong when Adam Johnson is more emotionally astute than you when it comes to relationships.

Thank you so much for this - I am grinning madly still XD

[identity profile] meretricula.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
like, on the one hand I think Silva is way more mature than Adam and he has experienced a lot more of life, so you'd think he'd know what he's doing in a relationship. but on the other I think he's also innately cutthroat in a way that Adam just isn't, and that sometimes makes it hard for him to understand this whole "love" thing. (but it makes him a better footballer! you know how Mancini is all "I am hard on Adam because I am trying to teach him something"? Silva didn't need lessons. Silva already knew.)

a.ny.way. I'm glad you liked it! sry abt vomiting my Silva headcanon all over you XD

[identity profile] justkisa.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)

just butting in to say, yes, yes, exactly this - I may or may not have spent some (too much) time writing little scenes in my head where Adam complains about what Mancini's said and Silva just doesn't get it and like just stares at him and says he's right and Adam gets mad and Silva like doesn't get that either, and then they fight about it, well Adam does and Silva just sort of blanks him out completely, right okay shutting up now and slinking away...

[identity profile] ladytelemachus.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
YESSSS. And Adam is sort of a bit disturbed by how freakishly similar Silva is to Mancini in many respects. And it sort of upsets him how hard Silva is on himself all the time. Cause Silva's brilliant, obviously, and he beats himself up for the stupidest little things. Adam knows he should be just as hard on himself, should always be striving and driving and aspiring, but sometimes...sometimes he just wants to play FIFA and work his way through a 6-pack of Stella. Sometimes he just prefers sulking and moping to actually doing something about the criticism.

IDK. Maybe.

[identity profile] justkisa.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)

this is actually why I think they go well together, because could you imagine the horror if Silva was involved with someone just like him, good lord...

...Silva needs some fun in his life, you know?

I think it's interesting the way that, of all his teammates at City, he seems most drawn to Adam, Joe et al all of whom enjoy a good time (if you know what I mean!). It's not really what I would have guessed would happen when he transferred, you know? But I like it, he always seems to be having so much fun with them. It's nice.

Sometimes he just prefers sulking and moping to actually doing something about the criticism.

and this is why, sometimes, I think they'd be doomed to failure (or at least some really vicious fights where Silva tells Adam things Adam really, really doesn't want to hear, especially not from his boyfriend) because Silva sulks (I will never be convinced he doesn't) but he's always, always trying to improve. And I'm not sure how much he would put up with someone who wasn't prepared to do that but hey, what do I know?

[identity profile] ladytelemachus.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
doomed to failure

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO never!!!!! :)

I think it's interesting the way that, of all his teammates at City, he seems most drawn to Adam, Joe et al all of whom enjoy a good time

I know! I think to start with he was probably sort of intrigued by them...like, who are these strange boys who goof around and randomly break into song and treat football, aka their jobs, their lives as something other than deathly serious. And then somewhere along the way he realised that actually, that's a pretty fun way to go about living your life, even if he can't quite shake the feeling that football is the most important thing ever.

In my head, they sulk in different ways...Silva sulks at himself, gets angry at himself. And Adam sulks at other people, blames other people (mainly Roberto Mancini and Stewart Downing and yes, on occasion, Silva) for his many and various woes. And maybe that has to do with his age and lack of experience and the fact that for quite a few years now he's been hearing about how he's the next big thing and he's a star and a prodigy and he's just getting a bit impatient waiting for all these predictions to come to pass.

It's weird...I sort of think the person who's most like Silva at City (other than Mancini, obvs) is maybe Milner. Except Milner's smile is a little less ready and he seems to be completely and utterly impervious to the cold. But he's another one, I think, who just cannot actually comprehend anything but a ruthless, cutthroat, life or death attitude to football.

/conjecture and bullshitting

i take it back, i take it back! failure is not an option...

exactly! though, obviously, football is still the most important thing ever but maybe a little fun is okay too...

Silva sulks at himself, gets angry at himself. And Adam sulks at other people, blames other people (mainly Roberto Mancini and Stewart Downing and yes, on occasion, Silva) for his many and various woes.

on this you and I agree and I really think Adam has to get over that before he can become a really great player

YES! Milner=totally professional, totally focused at all times on football. Did you read this? He is one driven guy. And in the #askjames thing he's all like I wouldn't even have a glass of champagne if we won the title. He kind of makes Silva look relaxed about football...

...and now I'm back to wanting read Silva/Milner.

[identity profile] ladytelemachus.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)

Yep. Especially after watching them deep in conversation on the trusty Tunnel Cam this weekend...even if the conversation did seem to revolve around how Gael's a scruffy so-and-so who doesn't tuck his shirt in properly or something.

Man, one day I'll polish this '5 times' piece I started literally months ago at the height of my Adam Johnson rage. A rage which continues to simmer but abated somewhat with all the contract-signing and goal-scoring and wonderful interviews etc.

it made me giggle, they just looked so serious about it, and then Silva went and actually fixed Gael's shirt, too cute!

Man, one day I'll polish this '5 times' piece I started literally months ago

i'm just, you know, going to wait quietly and patiently for that day...

random belated interjection, but given who he used to pal around with at Valencia (Raul Albiol, Alexis Ruano) I'd say Silva's always had a type. and that type was doofus goofballs. XD

[identity profile] justkisa.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
this is definitely true, I was more thinking about the fact that Adam, Joe etc have all gotten into a bit of trouble (mostly with Mancini, (though not exclusively) because of this (well mostly because of drinking) and Silva might like fun but is still really really serious about football and so avoids trouble like that (and is, you know, basically his manager's pet player) but yeah, Silva certainly does seem to have a soft spot for goofballs

[identity profile] krisseems.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It's so funny that he is a model professional at City, because in his last couple of seasons with Valencia there were a lot of rumors around that he spent a lot of time in the bars with Alexis and a few of the other party guys, sometimes staying out really late before training. I don't know if the rumors are true because the media in Valencia was pretty protective of their players.

[identity profile] justkisa.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
oh really? interesting.

I'll confess that I only really paid attention to him as a player (in the sense that I admired him as a player but didn't really pay any attention to his personal life etc) until he came to City.

And they (meaning the british press and the club to a certain extent) really do try to emphasize that he's a model professional, I remember reading an article towards the beginning of last season (I wish I had bookmarked it!) about City's youth set up where the guy in charge basically said something to the effect that he told them to be like Silva in their approach because he was so professional, didn't go out and party/drink/etc (the strong implication in the article being - be like Silva not like Joe/Adam/etc - the article was written around the time they all went to Scotland and got really trashed with a bunch of students - and got caught on video).

[identity profile] krisseems.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't really know about it but I am part of an online Valencia group and when his sale came around some of them weren't that sad to see him go. Some were based in Valencia and they had seen him out in bars til 4 or 5 am supposedly. IF it was true, whenever I watched Valencia I didn't think it had any effect on his playing, but to each their own I guess. And I thought that whole thing was weird to me. Wasn't it during a break or some sort. Like they had a couple of days before they had to report to England training? I can't remember for sure.

I...don't know how I feel about these pictures...makes me feel a bit voyeuristic etc. BUT, moral qualms aside, my image of deadly serious super professional Silva is utterly, utterly destroyed.

I am SO INTRIGUED about all these veiled references to fancy dress designers visiting Carrington. I suspect someone will be going as Super Mario. I just...I can't...

/babbling

[identity profile] justkisa.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
looking at those pictures made me want to squirm a bit (like where did they come from? how did they make it onto the wider internet?)

I don't think it should be destroyed. I really do think Silva takes football very, very seriously. But, um, it's possible he also takes fun very, very seriously. (and also, apparently wrestling--wrestling while drunk....).

I know, what is up with the costumes? Inquiring minds want to know...

[identity profile] ladytelemachus.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. Really, really uncomfortable... I think there may be some seriously in-depth Facebook stalking involved, which just makes me embarrassed for fandom in general. And then I feel like a hypocrite, because obviously I looked at them...

Based on the Fashion Kicks no-show, I will be very surprised if Silva gets dressed up too outlandishly (unless someone plies him with tequila or something...look on it as a public service, Joe Hart...)... city TV are teasing us most cruelly lately!

I KNOW. I am feeling a weird cocktail of embarrassment, shame, arousal, and hysteria. Mainly CRINGE though. Dear God. Sometimes I wish the internet had never been invented.

[identity profile] krisseems.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing it's for the Christmas party. Didn't they do fancy dress for last years? (I can't tell you how long it took to realize fancy dress meant costumes.) I remember the players in bright clothes with big dots. I can't remember what the theme was.

[identity profile] krisseems.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
When I saw this I was going to prompt them but she already had so I just waited. And it's amazing. I love the last answer. Love it. I feel like it would be based on getting hurt from his relationships in Spain.

Although I can't imagine David is late to things often. There was an interview before the WC and he said unpunctuality is the thing that gets on his nerves the most.

[identity profile] meretricula.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you liked it! (hee, my personal headcanon is that Silva is just... kind of a sneakily competitive asshole about everything, no further background required, but I'm also not much into Silva/Villa. XD)

oh man, I totally forgot that interview! XD I was just basing it off the difference between "punctual" in England and "punctual" in Spain. which is, ummm. significant. and kind of annoying if you're not used to continental european time, haha.

[identity profile] sanzina89.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS. IS. SO. SO. SO. PERFECT.

I wish I could comment with more words, but I simply can't, you have already said everything there's to say on this matter! :')

Now I need new domestic fics about them even more XDDD *____________*♥♥♥

I'm grinning like mad, if tonight I don't dream anything about this (your domestic AJ/D canon is almost identical to mine ♥) I will be disappointed!
