There is a flashback scene in I think disc 1 where Sephiroth, Cloud, and another SOLDIER are at Nibelheim during a mission, and the room at the inn they are assigned to only has TWO beds. Sephiroth and Cloud exchange a meaningful glance, and early next morning...their conversation is very...well...awkward.
Also, there's a whole minigame where Cloud can pick his date for the ferris wheel ride from the various decisions he makes to please/displease the ladies during the game...and he can also wind up with BARRETT (a guy) or a talking stuffed animal.
