I did one of these less than six months ago, I know, I'm totally cheating. I saw it on [livejournal.com profile] petitebelette's journal and couldn't resist! I'm going from January 2 2009 to January 1 2010, to put [livejournal.com profile] yuletide fics into the year they were actually posted.

My favorite story this year (of my own):
Oh man. Um, this is weird, but maybe Set Yourself On Fire (tennis, Rafa/Nole). When I wrote it I wasn't really sure if I liked it at all, but when I go back and reread it, I'm really happy with how it turned out. I think it was one of my more successful attempts at saying a lot without using very many words.

My best story this year:
Probably Damned Lies and Statistics (tennis, Rafa/Nole). There are a few things that I wish I could think of a better way to phrase, but it's the longest thing I wrote all year and it was definitely the most ambitious, from the story arc all the way down to figuring how to code the "outside sources" so they'd look sort of authentic.

Most popular story this year:
Only A Signal Shown (Temeraire, Granby/Tharkay). I don't think I'll ever write anything as popular as that again, to be honest. Especially considering the size of my fandoms.

Most fun story:
I really don't know - maybe Excerpts From Sweetheart vs. Spitfire, et al (Temeraire tennis AU, vaguely OT3). Fandoms colliding! Dragons playing tennis! Outside sources!

Most sexy story:
You Can Do Better Than Me (I Can't Do Better Than You), honorable mention to We Both Go Down Together (tennis, David/Feli/Rafa and Rafa/Nole respectively). There's just something about tennis RPS that promotes filth.

Story with single sexiest moment:
Damned Lies and Statistics (tennis, Rafa/Nole). I don't know why, but I love that sex scene to itty bitty pieces.

Most unintentionally *telling* story:
A Distant Voice in the Darkness (Temeraire, OT3) and Four Reasons Roger Federer Wished the Japanese Davis Cup Team Would Fall Into a Really Deep Hole (tennis/Prince of Tennis, Roger/Rafa) are both very revealing but in very different ways. A Distant Voice in the Darkness was the product of years of writing Mary Sue fic in my head; it's ridiculously self-indulgent but I love Leightley and at least half the reason I wrote that fic was to give her more screen time. Also, dragons who read Vergil, that's pretty telling. And of course Four Reasons... is my ode to my old fandom love, Prince of Tennis. I think the fact that I would even attempt that crossover tells you plenty about me. XD

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story:
No More Stones to Throw (tennis, Rafa/Nole, Mandy-->Rafa), maybe? I mean, Mandy/Rafa. That's pretty wrong.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
No More Stones to Throw (tennis, Rafa/Nole, Mandy-->Rafa) again! I felt so sorry for Mandy by the time I finished writing that fic. He has continued to grow on me, much like a grumpy Scottish fungus, ever since.

Hardest story to write:
I'm going to go with Wisdom to the Mighty, Honor to the Brave, just because it took so long. I got stalled twice and ended up throwing it together a few hours before the deadline, and I'm still mad at myself that I didn't finish it sooner and make it better.

Worst story:
Isn't that like asking someone to pick their least favorite child? Oh well. Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor (Temeraire, sort of Tharkay/Laurence). The plot, such as it is, just never really clicked for me, and Laurence is practically a caricature. Poor [livejournal.com profile] t_lyrical never seems to get anything good from me. >_>;;

Easiest story to write:
I think pretty much anything under 3000 words was probably easy to write... I remember that Always Better With Someone You Really Love (Star Trek Reboot, Kirk/McCoy) went pretty quickly, though.

Biggest surprise:
Um, I Think I Heard That Line Once in a Beatles Song (tennis, Roger/Rafa). I was not planning on ever writing tennis RPS. We all know how that turned out.

Story I'd like to revise:
If I want to revise something, I just do; I'm totally fine with changing things after they've been posted. But I wish I knew how to fix Wisdom to the Mighty, Honor to the Brave (Temeraire, sort of gen). It needs something (probably more substance past the first three scenes, duh) but I just don't think I can get it right. Maybe in a few months I'll be able to go back and see it better.

Story I didn't write but will at some point, I swear:
Oh man, I have it all planned out. Marat/Feli/Sveta porn set just before the Beijing tournament, where they all get really drunk and Marat gets Feli to have sex with Sveta even though they're both gay. I even have a title! Russian Roulette (It's Not the Same Without a Gun). I just need to, um, watch some guy-in-the-middle threeway porn to get some idea of the choreography. Anyone want to recommend some?

First story you wrote this year:
Only A Signal Shown (Temeraire, Granby/Tharkay). I didn't write anything for five months after that.

Last story you wrote this year:
The last story I posted this past year was Wisdom to the Mighty, Honor to the Brave (Temeraire, sort of gen), but that feels like cheating because it had been half-written for months and months. The last story I started in 2009 was Of Every Love That Could Have Been (tennis, Roger/Rafa), and it was a good one to close it out on.

19 fics, ~63650 words. Since May, I've written 11 fics about Rafa and he's won 0 titles. There's irony for you.

Well, at least Rafa is being exploited to appease the sexual/romantic hunger of young women all over the world. That's a fair trade, right? RIGHT?

...poor Rafa D:

the worst part is, as soon as I realized that he hadn't won anything since I started writing tennis RPS, I wondered if I would stop so he could win. and I don't think I would. >_>;;

And I don't think I would want you to (woooah, you use the anime face with the sweatdrops! I haven't seen one of those in ages!)!

Totally random: I looove that your icon leaves out the accent and breathing mark. I still think Greek looks far better without the little marks cluttering it up. Too bad that would make it too difficult to read :\

I love emoticons. the more obscure the better. they're just so... expressive.

ahahaha I wish I could claim it was deliberate, but I can't produce anything besides the plain letters in Symbol, which is what I have available in Photoshop. XD

lol, yeah, I had to download the Teknia Greek font for my thesis. I have the entire keyboard memorized, including every single accent/mark combination. But I have to PDF the damn thing any time I need to send it to somebody because no one uses the same Greek font >:|

copy-paste from Perseus or the TLG, man. no typing required.

Nah, I've got the library's expensive and more trustworthy editions (not all of the manuscripts are conflated the same way and Casey is a stickler for both primary source material and translations) so I just have to type it by hand. Soooo tedious.

he won't even let you use the TLG versions? they're mostly OCTs, I think. that's pretty annoying. o_O;;

We tried using Perseus one semester for class and found some errors and had issues... now he totally mistrusts it and sticks to his Teubners when possible. He would let me use an OCT if it were a hard copy.

Sometimes he'll let me use updated editions of the Loebs when I'm desperate!

I mean, Perseus is one thing but the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae is pretty freaking legitimate! I got told off for not using it, lol. life's too short to waste time typing accents, though now that we don't have an unlimited license and I have to go use a computer that has access it's a little annoying. still. you should check and see if your library has a subscription, it's a total lifesaver.

I don't think we have a license since Casey has never used it in class. I do believe he has a (possibly totally illegal CD-ROM version from his graduate adviser at UPenn) copy of it for himself though.

You prompted me to search my computer for "TLG" and it turns out that Casey installed it along with Diogenes last summer (shhh, lol). Why didn't one of us remember this before now?! FML.
