cornerflag is a while away, but I'm already working on something and I could use a hand if anyone is interested/available/just wants to witness my steady descent into insanity.
basically I signed up to write Leo/Cesc het (no wait for it) as an AU in which Cesc is a girl, his sister Carlota is a boy (and through some "it's an AU okay leave me alone" handwaving is less than a year younger), "Carlos" follows basically the same career trajectory as rl Cesc, and "Cesca" moves with him to London when he transfers to Arsenal. long story short she tries out for the Arsenal Ladies and eventually has her own career as a footballer, fast forward a couple of years and they are Captain and Captain Fabregas, "Fabregas no. 4" shirts are the most popular replicas sold in both men's and ladies' stores and Cesca is the official #1 girlcrush of Kickette in spite of the fact that she's technically not a WAG. (also I hope to explore some of the issues surrounding the women's game, e.g. Cesca is an amazing player but realistically she can only do what she does because Carlos supports her financially, enabling her to train like a professional while most of the players in the women's league also have families and full-time jobs, not to get preachy but it really really sucks and people have a lot of nerve calling women's football boring. and also she has a contract with Nike solely because they wanted to use her and Carlos for the Men vs. Women campaign.) fast forward a few more years and Carlos moves back to Barcelona, Cesca moves to America to play professionally for the Boston Breakers. fast forward a few more, Leo stuns the footballing world by announcing out of the blue that he's retiring at the end of the season to raise the baby that he and his partner are expecting (lol shades of Carlos Tevez and also TROLLING LIKE A PRO), Spanish press go "WHO WHAT WHERE???" Leo goes "if you don't know who I've been dating for the past ten years I'm not going to tell you lol bye." (I am looking forward to writing this press conference can you tell.) they have a baby girl, Cesca continues to play professionally for several more years, Leo is an adorable house-husband and greatly enjoys being in a timezone close to Argentina's/being able to go to the supermarket in America even though he still needs Cesca to translate all the English for him THE END.
I have a ridiculous amount of headcanon, but I still need to do a lot of research. and timeline fudging. but also I sort of have most of a prequel written already, and I can't post it until aftercornerflag goes up at the end of March because they have a rule about no pre-existing series, but I'm mostly using it to work out the characters and I need help, because Leo is REALLY REALLY HARD TO WRITE. so, if you want to still hear my rantings and maybe see bits of the thing while it's still in progress, comment and I'll make a filter - and seriously, whether or not we talk regularly, just let me know that you want to be on the filter, no further obligations, you're not required to comment on whatever I end up posting - and we'll see. I really want to write this thing. I just also want it not to suck. =/
