drive-by post as I am meant to be revising my essays like mad, but I just remembered this fic that I read ages ago and wanted to rec it before I forgot again: Poetry In Motion, a Stargate: Atlantis AU in which they are all footballers. Rodney is the goalie. it was brilliant the first time I read it and it's way better now that I actually know anything about soccer. the bits about the iconic images of the match are what I really hope the Cesc-is-a-girl AU will someday end up being sort of like. (I live in hope.)

also I have been listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs a lot recently. SO GOOD. I feel like nobody has ever talked to me about them but they're awesome.

finally the discovery of keepvid may alter my life in a fundamental way. I CAN DOWNLOAD ALL THOSE FOOTBALL MUSIC VIDEOS. okay Veronica get a hold of yourself now.

maybe you are the missing musical link that explains why I had three of their albums on my computer, then! I had a random conversation about one of my hallmates about them yesterday, actually. which album do you like best? I think just on the basis of having the most songs I like, my favorite is It's Blitz, which he thought was too poppy. =/

I'm pretty much with you on the It's Blitz mostly on the strength of the fact that "Zero" is my ultimate get-your-ass-back-into-being-useful-you-sad-sad-bitch jam.

they're really good "get back to work" music, aren't they? I think my favorite is "Skeletons". epic build-up. (hallmate also endorses Arcade Fire cover of "Maps" any opinions?)
