Hi! I love Yuletide! I love you! Thank you for offering to write a story for me! Hopefully my requests aren't making you tear out your hair or regret ever volunteering for that fandom, but I promise you, I love all these fandoms and all these characters and I will love you forever for writing them.
Um, so I guess I should give you some general info on what I like. Basically, happy endings. I want everybody to be happy or at least not overtly miserable at the end of the fic. They can suffer and be angsty in the beginning or middle but please please please let the ending be sunshine and rainbows or the promise of sunshine and rainbows on the not-too-distant horizon. I'm also happy to get a fic that's 100% fluffy sunshine and rainbows all the way through. I like characters bantering with each other and goofing off and being total dorks! And I love love love characters showing how much they love each other. It can be romantic, it can be familial, it can be friendship, but give me people who really care about each other and worry and hover and bully in a loving manner and just generally want to make each other happy. Also? Cuddling. I am a fan.
Other things that I like! Crazy AUs are always great. Want to write the fic where they're ice-skaters or porn stars or hookers or college students? GO FOR IT! Reach into that box of cliches and pull one out at random if you feel like it, because I eat them up like candy. That said! I also really like stuff that stays super close to canon, but I am a tiny bit picky about things being accurate if you go this route. (I know, right? Anyone who's this into lunatic Alternate Universes has no ground to be fussing about canon compliance.) But anyway, if you are very familiar with the fandom and you're comfortable writing something that sticks obsessively close to canon, I love that too. Seriously, I like it when people put footnotes on their fic so I can check their references. I'm weird like that. (Also I did a meme a while back about "stuff I like in fic" so if you think that could be helpful, it's here.)
Things I don't like: pretty small list. No deathfic, please. No super-intense wrist-slashing angst, non-con or dub-con. No woman-bashing. No gay-bashing. If you want to try addressing something difficult like internalized misogyny or homophobia or racism, feel free, but do it carefully, okay? (I know it seems like that should go without saying but JUST IN CASE.) I'm a bit of a grammar nazi (I know, it's a character flaw) so if that's something you know you have issues with, get a beta to give it a quick scrub. :)
Request #1: FC Barcelona, Victor Valdes, Andres Iniesta
I HAVE THE WORLD'S SHINIEST TIN HAT FOR THESE TWO. I wrote an essay about how much I love them. It has citations and photographic evidence. I would love to read a fic about their friendship. If you're cool with the slash (and with Andresito having sexual urges, because I know some people go back and forth on that) I would love to read a fic about their more-than-friendship. I would love a fic about them at La Masia, back when Victor had panic attacks over matches and Andres was so homesick he'd cry buckets and wouldn't eat. I would love a fic about them taking their wives and kids to the beach. I would love a fic about their kids getting married - or not getting married when they'd both always assumed their offspring would someday unite their houses. I would love a fic about Victor being Andres' rock in the storm that was the 2009-10 season. I would love a fic about Andres turning that around and supporting Victor when he needed it. I would love a fic about everything they've accomplished together, about the string of pictures where they posed together with yet another trophy because it matters that they were both there, about the fact that they promised each other when they were so much younger that they were going to win three Champions Leagues and now they've done it. ANYTHING. If it is about Victor and Andres and their ridiculous eternal unshakable devotion to each other, I promise you I will love it. (If you want and/or need further background on the rest of FC Barcelona, who I also adore and would be happy to see in the fic if you'd like to include them, there's a primer here.)
Request #2: Frederica - Georgette Heyer, Frederica Merriville, Jessamy Merriville
I thought Frederica and Jessamy's relationship was the most interesting part of the novel. Jessamy was so devoted to her, to an almost possessive extent, and she was so great with all her siblings, but especially Jessamy. I'd love to read a fic that explored that some more! Pre-book, during or post, it's all fine. If you are cool with incest, I'm fine with that too! The weird pseudo-parental relationship they had with regard to Felix was really fascinating. I'm sorry for going to the Flowers in the Attic place if that freaks you out - I am also totally cool with gen, don't worry! Write whatever you're comfortable with.
Request #3: Tennis RPF, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova
Read The Rivals by Johnette Howard. It's not long and it's a good read, just do it! You will immediately understand why I'm dying for fic about Chrissie and Martina. Seriously, Federer and Nadal only wish their rivalry was so epic. 80 times. They played each other 80 times! They shared so much with each other that nobody else in the world could possibly have understood. I would adore a fic about them being friends (or, predictably, more than friends) at any stage of their lives - when they first met, at the height of their rivalry, when their careers were winding down. I would totally love post-retirement fic about them reconnecting while doing commentary, or Chrissie supporting Martina while she was getting chemo, or Martina being there for Chris during her divorces. Anything. There is not a single fic about the two of them in the entire world, and that is a crying shame.
I love these fandoms and I love these characters. Just write whatever you want about them and I'm sure I'll love it to bits!
