sign-ups close tonight at 8PM so don't forget to get that finished if you want to officially participate! but I also wanted to add that if for whatever reason you can't sign up and do the whole shebang this year, you can still participate in other ways and you totally should! there is, of course, the ever-popular "read all the stories on Christmas morning and leave comments for all the hard-working authors" method of participation, and seriously, LEAVE COMMENTS, AUTHORS ARE A NERVOUS BUNCH, but there's also some stuff you can do before Christmas, should you unexpectedly have some time on your hands. sign up for the pinch-hitters list - you never know what awesome and inspiring request will go out over the list! browse the Dear Yulegoat letters and see what you might like to write as an extra treat! (corollary: if you are an official participant in this year's yuletide, leave a link to your Dear Yulegoat letter in the post on yuletide. you never know who will be browsing, looking for something to write.) offer to beta! make yourself available to your friends for the obligatory wailing and gnashing of teeth when assignments are sent out! everybody can help make the yuletide gay.

ugh so nervous yet so excited

i wanted to get my cornerflag fic at least mostly drafted by the time i start seriously writing for yuletide. ...yeah, that didn't happen. >.>

also my dear writer letter is absurdly long because i decided to include resources and canon descriptions on the off chance i convert someone. i don't know why i think someone would suddenly start watching bundesliga games (or attempt to download 52 episodes and a TV movie, or watch however many episodes it takes to be familiar with a zany cooking show), but hey, what the heck.

but OMG EVERYTHING I REQUESTED HAS OFFERS THAT ISN'T ME THIS IS SUPER EXCITING. And someone in Yulechat knew the anime fandom of my heart and I almost got hir to request it and omg omg omg

and yes i am terrified of my potential assignments. so terrified. but so excited. aaaaaaah.

well to my credit, I've had a version of this fic bunny in my head since July. It's just a matter of taking it and adapting it to the theme/pairing/etc...which is surprisingly hard. It's based on real life events and experiences...but I'm 23, not a footballer, American, and female. And I did everything a decade after my fic's timeline. How did people ever research things sneakily before widespread high speed Internet and efficient search engines? how will I justify his buying of makeup and women's clothing to curious cashiers? where will he get a wig without ebay, in a culture that doesn't do halloween half as much as americans do? aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh. ...also i still have no clue how i'm going to end it. AUGH.

Probably best not to risk it, though at the end of the day it's always up to you.

Oooh boy, this is the first time I've done the Yuletide thing... and can ask what is a cornerflag fic? I'm confused already! I'm excited about my assignment though. :)

yayyyyy you will have so much fun! I'm freaking out a little about my assignment but that's traditional, roll with me. :D

cornerflag is a football fandom thing, haha, my flist is just very... specialized in its interests so we're all concerned about how it overlaps with yuletide. it's a rarepair 'zine-type thing and the due date is in January. check it out sometime, if you're curious!
