A few days ago I went trawling through my own timeline looking for gems to bring back before they're lost to the mists of time/twitter, and this really needed to be exposed to the light of day. meretricula: but Sid doesn't WANT anyone else to come home with him. home is perfect with just Mario and Nathalie and the kids.
meretricula: Sid is terrible at explaining this, but Mario kind of understands. (Nathalie gets it way better than either of them.)

meretricula: getting laid is way less important to him than being loved, and he knows Mario and Nathalie love him <3
justkisa: the conversation would be epically awkward and natalie would smile behind her hand a lot and try not to laugh
meretricula: (but obvs Mario and Nathalie should also ravish the fuck out of his nubile nearly-virginal body, duh)
justkisa: and still love him after that and soothe him through the inevitable freak out
meretricula: god he would freak out SO MUCH. he'd retreat to his wing of the house and they'd have to give him ALL THE SPACE
meretricula: and make sure the kids left him alone. (oh lawd won't someone think of the children and their new stepmom.)
justkisa: all the space in the world (and possibly at some point he talks about moving out, which, no, just no)
meretricula: UNACCEPTABLE, SID, WHAT WOULD WE TELL THE CHILDREN.
justkisa: exactly, mustn't disturb the children's stable home life, completely unacceptable
meretricula: you've been a constant presence in their lives for 3 years! they depend on you! (being needed is Sid's kryptonite.)
justkisa: and so he stays (for the children!) and everything works itself out and happy endings for all.

justkisa: Sid is his, okay? That's what those hands all over Sid's shoulders say to me. And I like it a lot. A LOT.
meretricula: and he's so much bigger than Sid??? like, Sid is not a small dude. but Mario is ginormous. I'm having a feeling or three.
justkisa: YES. Definitely. I have a lot of feelings about the size/height difference between them. Lots of inappropriate feelings...
meretricula: Sid needs to be protected, there are people out there who wouldn't treat him right, Mario has to take care of him!
justkisa: No touching for anyone else. Nope. Mario's not going to share (except with his wife, that'd be okay).
justkisa: Works for me. That's totally why he had Sid move in, right? So he can take care of him & keep him for his own.
meretricula: well they're married, of course he can share with her. what's his is hers, etc. including jailbait bb hockey players.

meretricula: exactly. and make sure he's happy! really it's all about keeping Sid safe and happy.

Ahhh, those were some good conversations, weren't they? Those pictures still slay me too. But my feelings about Mario have gotten much more conflicted since then. Though I still love and adore his and Sid's relationship (and Sid's relationship with the whole Lemieux family) which I find endlessly interesting (also I still want all the gen about their relationship like epics worth of gen exploring the whole span of their relationship). But my feelings about him personally have taken a turn toward the less than admiring. I'm also not sure if I could write him (or Sid, the thought of writing Sid is still really, really intimidating). Though I do really love the idea of a Sid/Mario/Nathalie threesome (oh the power dynamics that would be involved in such a relationship...) Gah. I don't know. I'm really sort of conflicted about the whole thing now.

That one series on A03 is really excellent though (and I've read it like a million times) and it's pretty close to my own ideal Sid/Mario/Nathalie story.

Also, I kept meaning to tell you this, but like a month or so ago I ended up spending my lunch hour reading a Matt Christopher biography of Mario that I found while I was shifting the biography section. I didn't even realize we had it in the library! Anyway I feel like this is your fault in some way :P

oh man, don't let me pressure you or anything! you know me, I can talk a good game about most anything, but at the end of the day it's just what you're interested in and feel comfortable that matters. ;) we can always chat about other things! like Micah and how great his hugs must feel, for one.

did you come across the information that he was probably in the same room while his teammate raped someone, too? because that was... definitely disillusioning, I know what you mean. and I really, really hope that he has thought about it a lot and feels deeply shitty about himself now that his daughters are old enough for him to worry about someone doing that to them, though fuck knows male privilege means he probably wiped it from his memory and never gave it a second thought. =/

No worries, honest, I love our conversations! And, yes, Micah's hugs must feel fantastic. He seems like he gives great ones. Also he's back from injury and captaining City to 5-0 wins! So yay!

I did come across that information and it was disillusioning to say the least. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to reconcile enough to write him (and I'm not sure I want to try). I'd like to think he's considered his actions and regrets them but as you point out that is probably extremely unlikely. So, yeah. Though, like I said, I still do actually find his and Sid's relationship very fascinating.

Hee! I'm not sure if it was Matt Christopher himself or not. He had, at one point, a biography series for children, they all have his name on them but I'm not sure he actually wrote them all. I'd have to check. It was actually kind of interesting to see a scrubbed up, kid friendly explanation of how hockey works, you know, like the draft and all.

hahaha maybe Geno is really Spiderman??? god there are so many humiliating ways for him to get caught trying to sneak some sexy time with Sid. Disapproving Dad Mario! Indulgent Mom Nathalie knocking on the door to ask if they need condoms!
