mmm. I think, in general, the manga is much better than the anime, but I did like some of the new stories the anime used, and the storyline of the 22nd and 23rd episodes was truly stunning. Maybe I read it too fast, but I think that one plot-thread got treated better in the anime. And it is gorgeous. AND FULL OF ANGST!!! I live in hope that someday CLAMP will get bored with drawing vague sexual tension between Doumeki and Watanuki, and have them go at it like rabid weasels just for the hell of it, but failing that, tragically averted assisted suicide will have to do! I think I've figured out what the problem between Doumeki and Watanuki is, at least for me, though: Doumeki is a fucking ASS. I've always blamed Watanuki for being a neurotic spazzball and wrecking their relationship through oblivion because he's the uke and I am thus contractually obliged to dislike him, but dear god, Doumeki needs a time-out in the corner. He's such a jerk. He's the sort of guy who will yank a girl's pigtails until she cries, and then not get why she hates him.

I forgive him, though, because he is very hot in hakama. Episode 23 made me happy. Oh yes, very happy indeed.

Anybody else think Yuuko's going to hook up with Himawari-chan? Come on, she'd totally do it just to fuck with Watanuki's head.

In other fandom-related news, I reread the entirety of Questionable Content last night/this afternoon. I never cease to be amazed at a) how awesome the artwork has gotten, and b) how awesome the story has been all along. I'm not sure how I feel about Penelope yet, but Hannelore rocks my world. Especially in her boyshorts.
