I love Tsukasa. Really I do. He's amazingly stupid and emotionally still about as mature as a two-year-old, but he's trying. That's what makes this season of HYD so hard for me to watch. I want him to be happy, marry Makino and have babies that grow up to never speak Japanese properly. However, I also can't stand the way he keeps backing down from facing the consequences of his decision. I'm glad that he owned up to Makino about how he feels. If he really can't be without her (and I'm pretty convinced that he'd be a NIGHTMARE if she ever dumped him for more than, say, 48 hours, especially after the testimony of Nishida-san, who is total LOVE), then it's good that he told her, and that he kept after her until she admitted she felt the same. But he needs to tell Shigeru. He can't just keep trying to tell her and then backing down at the last second because she looks so pathetically in love with him. And every single freaking time Makino tries to back out, I want to shake her until she tells him that Shigeru is her friend and it is nine different kinds of wrong to go behind her back like that.
And then there's Rui. I honestly wasn't all that attached to him in the first season, because yes, he's very pretty, but he's so... passive. Tsukasa may act like a total idiot most of the time, but at least he acts at all. But now he's occasionally making the effort, casual as he makes it seem, and he even knows that he's never really going to have a chance with Makino because she's so completely in love with Tsukasa, and AARGH it makes me mad. Of course, the last scene I watched before giving up on my dorama for the night is where he's sitting there in the dark after Makino called him to ask to talk with him, and he knows she's going to tell him she can't choose him, and you can SEE HIM TRYING NOT TO CRY. So I am naturally a little upset on his behalf.
Also: what the HELL is up with the Soujiroh sub-plot? That girl isn't even pretty. And since we seem to be pairing up all the remaining F4 members, where's Akira's girl, or have the directors decided that anyone with fashion sense THAT bizarre must be gay? (My money says he hooks up with Shigeru. There's no way she'll get with Rui, and the only way to neatly remove her from the central love quadrangle is to have her fall for someone else.)
To sum up: WHY CAN'T THEY ALL BE HAPPY AND LIVE TOGETHER IN A BIG ORGY OF LOVE?

The manga makes you just die! I started collecting them while I lived there and it was my one favorite shoujou manga and every time, I would either smile like crazy or cry like a baby.
