ok, flist, help me out here. who all is doing [livejournal.com profile] valentinesplay and [livejournal.com profile] footie_bang? I'm probably doing the latter (FINISHING SOULBONDING THIS TIME I FUCKING SWEAR), on the fence about the former. I kind of like to know what I'm getting into with fic exchanges, don't want to jump into a shark tank of angry madridistas, etc. but I like writing to spec and 500 words is totally doable, if that really is all that's expected, so...

should I sign up, yea or nay? bearing in mind that I've got all of [livejournal.com profile] cornerflag to edit by next week and I'm still failing at betaing for bigbang. (sorry I suck so hard, [livejournal.com profile] mardia. :( I swear I'll get it done!) and, uh, school, but it's not like rl responsibilities have ever stopped me before.

I'm doing [livejournal.com profile] valentinesplay but probably not [livejournal.com profile] footie_bang, partly because I signed up for the other one first and partly because I can't imagine describing a story before it's written, like is required for [livejournal.com profile] footie_bang/presumably big (?) bangs in general. Just a personal quirk, I guess, I usually don't really know what the fuck is going on with a story til it's pretty far along.

On one hand, I wouldn't worry too much about sharks -- I would guess about three to four Madridistas (including yrs truly) have signed up so far and I highly doubt the mod would match you with one of them given what I assume your team preferences would be... XD On the other, the deadlines are awfully close to each other and it would be hypocritical of me to say you should do both when I'm only doing one, ahaha.

tbh I wouldn't volunteer for [livejournal.com profile] footie_bang except pre-existing WIPs are allowed, so... I'm probably cheating by using a WIP that is literally missing only one scene but w/e w/e I do what I want. and I write fics over 3000 words very rarely, so I'd want the insurance of already having that written, haha. but I also don't want to disappoint a recipient in an exchange, and I know we all agree to "500 words minimum" but really people mean "5000 word fic of my heart" etc etc and I just don't write 5000 word fics of ANYBODY's heart. even my own. XD I guess I'll sleep on it, see how I feel in the morning.

I'm in the same boat as you on thinking about [livejournal.com profile] footie_bang but probably not doing [livejournal.com profile] valentinesplay. mostly because I would feel terrible for the poor person who would get my prompt. I fully acknowledge that I am rather ~difficult~ to match in terms of football tastes. XD

I'm considering extending my [livejournal.com profile] cornerflag fic; I actually have down somewhere a massive list of prompts for Pia (lady!Philipp), ranging from extremely gratuitous kinky times to srs bznz marching in gay pride parades while stealth after retirement. At the same time, I fear that if I write nothing but Pia, she'll become an ingrained part of my headcanon for Philipp, and that, uh, just can't be healthy if I want to keep writing fanfic that people other than me will read. XD Besides of which, my own feelings about crossdressing keep becoming increasingly complicated for various real life Reasons, which doesn't help.

And well, I probably should start branching out, writing my other clubs. (I don't know if I could write 3k of Didier Drogba moping about various sexy Portuguese managers, but damned if I won't try; likewise, my sweet American/Red Bull baby Juan Agudelo needs an outlet for all of his hero worship, and pedo!New Yorker Wannabe!Titi Henry would be really freaing fun to write.) On the other hand, I've just barely started writing again, so the idea of going out of my comfort zone already is scary!

AAAAAAAH DECISIONS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

I mean, there are lots of people in fandom who like Chelsea and Bayern, it can't be that bad...?

haha I feel you! I think it comes down to know if forcing yourself out of your comfort zone will be a good challenge or just freak you out. and how much free time you have between now and various deadlines. XD

There may be lots of fans, but not many fic writers as far as I've seen. Most of the well known people in the non-fic communities for my clubs/NTs are very anti-RPF, which doesn't help much. There is fic, I'm not gonna lie (and some of it is truly fantastic), but it very often gets dwarfed by other clubs, at least in my experience. I don't know, I just worry I'd be really hard to pair considering I don't have much of any wiggle room beyond those two clubs, I guess. :/

See, I'm unemployed at the moment, so time isn't quite the issue - it's if I find an idea that'll let me write enough by the deadline. [livejournal.com profile] cornerflag was kind of a copout since that idea had been brewing since summer and I still had lots of freakouts along the way - and that had a much longer timeframe! AUGH.

ahh. sorry that your bnfs are anti-fic, that's pretty lame. but clearly the solution is to lure like-minded folks into any exchanges you want to do! let's face it, we're all sheep really. (so in your case... you gotta start enabling [livejournal.com profile] zanoranna more, obvs. it's a sign of love! ask any of the people I've tricked into doing [livejournal.com profile] cornerflag, [livejournal.com profile] yuletide, [livejournal.com profile] touchline...)

sometimes I find being busy helps me write a lot more than having free time, idk. inveterate procrastinator I guess. but you'll figure out what works for you!

the mod for [livejournal.com profile] valentinesplay has reassured me that some Mannschaft fans have indeed signed up, so let's hope for the best, shall we?

and yes, well, hooooopefully I will be getting some Romeu-flavored awesomeness from her eventually. I wanted to get her to be my fellow Bayern writer for [livejournal.com profile] cornerflag but it just never panned out. :( Hopefully next issue!

I'm doing [livejournal.com profile] valentinesplay, but not [livejournal.com profile] footie_bang (although I am planning to sign up as a mixer). Big Bangs are the opposite of things I can do. But the other one sounds good, etc., even though I have all kinds of deadlines. I can finish something. Hopefully.

hah! Big Bangs are also the opposite of things I can do, but I figure a min of 3000 words when I have already written 8000 on this particular WIP is totally doable. XD what's your impression of the valentine's day exchange? do you think 500 words min really means 500 words would be satisfactory? that's my main concern.

I'm sure it does, it's a pretty quick exchange (like, it was just invented on Sunday) so I'm sure everything will be on the shorter side. And it should be a good group, considering. I mean, up to you and all of that, but it seems doable even to me and I have no time and no desire to do long things.

Oh GOD I hadn't even heard of [livejournal.com profile] valentinesplay until this post. Too, too tempting. Reckon it would be cheeky to sign up despite having just stumbled across it courtesy of your good self/never having interacted with the convenor? You'd think I'd have some idea of internet etiquette by now. But apparently not.

Not that that is in any way helpful to your dilemma. Sorry. 500 words is totally doable. That's my super helpful, incisive contribution to this debate.

no, no, not at all! if you're interested go for it! I don't personally know the person running it but [livejournal.com profile] mardia does, and she said they're delighted to have more writers. :)

Ah, thank you! Think I'll go for it then...(adding one more to the "not an angry madridista" pile, if that's any incentive). And hopefully I will manage not to go crazy and embark upon a ridiculous longfic epic that requires meticulous canon research. Well, one lives in hope.

Hope you come to a happy conclusion yourself re: assorted challenges! ♥

thank you! ♥

I signed up to the valentine one because quick is good (not much time to allow me to drift off and forget it even exists as I ALMOST did with cornerflag) and short is good, and I prefer to be writing for someone.

But if footie bigbang will help you finish soulbonding, I would go that way ;)

I signed up to the Valentines day one, as Ella told me too and it seemed friendly enough for my first fic exchange! I'm glad you decided to too :)
